A Shared Activity, Not a Memory Test
Golden Moments makes calm, adult picture activities that a caregiver and someone living with dementia can enjoy side by side.
What we believe
The point of an activity is the moment itself: a conversation, a smile, the satisfaction of putting two pictures together, or simply sitting close. It is not to measure anyone, push them further or prove anything.
Many brain-training apps are designed around speed, scores, streaks and levels. For a person living with dementia that can feel like an exam they cannot pass. We designed the opposite, and we hold ourselves to these rules:
- Nothing to fail. No clock, score, move counter, lives, streaks, confetti or countdowns, on any screen.
- Recognition over recall. Pictures stay showing by default. Prompts invite conversation and never quiz names or memories.
- Big, plain and steady. Large text and pictures, high contrast, and controls that stay in the same place.
- Adult dignity. Real-world pictures and plain, warm words. No cartoons, sing-song praise or emoji rewards.
- An easy way out. “Done for now” is always visible. Stopping halfway is a good outcome.
- Private by default. No accounts or ads. Photos you choose stay on your device.
What we do not claim
Our games are for enjoyment and connection. They do not diagnose, test, measure, treat, slow or prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and no one should choose them for that reason. When we write about research on ourbrain health pages, we say plainly where the evidence is weak, and we never connect it to our own games.
Who we are
Golden Moments is a small independent team. We are not clinicians. Our guides are written from published guidance by organizations such as the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association, and every guide lists its sources. Read how we write and check our pages.
